To do: Deadhead any annuals and herbaceous perennials.
To deadhead is to prune or pinch out flowers after they have finishing blooming .This will prevent the plant using it's energy on seed production and will instead turn its efforts to promoting new blossom. Secateurs or your finger and thumb are the most effective tools for the job.
