Off with their Heads!

Through the summer months, an enjoyable and relaxing pastime in the garden is to deadhead your flowering plants, particularly your herbaceous perennials. Cutting back spent flowers not only improves the appearance of a plant but in many cases encourages more blooms. Removing the spent flowers also redirects the plant's efforts away from seed production to increased root and leaf development.
