Polygala myrtifolia is a dense evergreen shrub native to South Africa.
This Polygala is all about its flowers, beautiful sweetpea-like mauve flowers that persist for long periods throughout the growing season, but are especially profuse in spring.
Keep Polygala myrtifolia in a bright open sunny spot for best flowering, and look to prune back during a lull in flowering in late spring. An excellent specimen for a pot.
Polygala myrtifolia works well with other South African plants as well as Australian plants - Red Bottlebrush, Tea Tree, and Australian mint bush as well as Grevillea Robyn Gordon.
Polygala myrtifolia is also known as the Sweet Pea Bush.
