A vigorous fast-growing evergreen tree native to temperate areas such as Australia and southern Africa.

The Mimosa is a fairly tough tree and does prove hardy in sheltered positions in most parts of the UK. The hardiness of the Mimosa does improve with maturity, so younger trees make need sufficient winter protection.

The highlight of the Mimosa tree is it's highly fragrant, bright yellow fluffy flowers that display strikingly in very early spring.

To get the best from your Mimosa a bright sunny sheltered spot in well-drained soils is ideal.

Mimosas can also been pruned back to keep a shrubby form which then makes an ideal conservatory plant.

Pruning is generally not necessary if a large specimen is required.
