Butia capitata, is a hardy palm tree plant native to Brazil

Here are five reasons to plant Butia capitata:

Hardy - will tolerate most enviromtents in the UK, but will need protection in the very coldest areas.

Impact - the graceful arching fronds of the Butia capitata lends itself to exotic planting schemes, the more mature plants create excellent focal points.

Low maintenance - once established Butia capitata requries very little care, just a tidy up of old fronds once a year. Additional watering and feeding are beneficial to the Butia especially if potted. Look to apply a liquid feed monthly throughtout the growing season.

Planting Scheme - Due to it's blue/green foliage colour and graceful form Butia capitata can be used in a variety of planting schemes from tropical to coastal, even to Mediterranean planting schemes.

Feature plant - We really do recommend Butia capitata as a standalone statement plant in a big pot/planter to really accentuate the long arching fronds.

Works well with - Dwarf fan palm, Blue Hesper Palm, Chusan Palm.

Butia capitata is also known as the Jelly Palm.
