The New Zealand Tea Tree (Leptospermum scoparium) is a fast-growing evergreen shrub with abundant white flowers in summer.

New Zealand Tea Tree is native to Australia and New Zealand and proves hardy in the UK in all but the coldest of gardens.

The New Zealand Tea Tree is well renowned for two other reasons. For bee-keepers the flowers of the Tea Tree are all but irresistible to bees and are the source for the much sought after Manuka Honey. Secondly the extracts of the Tea Tree plant are proven to have powerful anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and insecticidal properties and are recognised in New Zealand as a traditional medicine.
