exotic plants make perfect summer bedding plants.
This is according to the BBC’s Plant Finder website, which recommended that this plant could also spruce up a patio if placed in a pot.
It requires well-drained or light and sandy soil and should grow to a height of 500cm and have a spread of 400cm.
"A good ingredient for a jungly sub-tropical garden or red border, the cabbage palm is a striking foliage plant with its long, thin, arching, purple leaves," Plant Finder stated.
The article also underlined how even a beginner could look after this exotic plant easily.
Cordyline australis ‘Sundance’ could be another plant from the same species which is worth a look.
Also known as the Torbay Palm, it grows a metre taller and wider than the regular Cordyline australis and is an excellent coastal plant.
It could be complemented by a Phormium tenax ‘Pink Stripe’ plant, which produces stunning variegated leaves.
