About Us

Athelas Exotic Plant Nursery is a retail nursery based in Ninfield, East Sussex. The nursery was born from a passion. A simple passion to be different, different from all the other nurseries we were associated with, worked in, and spent time in at weekends choosing plants for our own gardens.

The thing is we just kept coming across the same old plants which handsome as they were, were somewhat, well, boring. So in a throwback to the Victorian era of scouring the world for something a little more interesting, we researched, planned, prevaricated and eventually put together a selection of plants that posess a little more character, a little more personality, and dare I say a little more fun.

Hopefully some of the words used here 'Character, 'Passion', 'Exotic', 'Vibrant' and even 'Fun' tell you something not only about our plants, but about our nursery too.

Also at the nursery...

Apart from what you find here on the website. Our nursery also stocks a selection of large specimen plants such as Magnolia grandiflora, Photinia 'Red Robin', Mahonia media, Italian Cypress and much much more.

We have also introduced a range of large vertical pleached plants, using Olives, Photinia, and Camellia. These plants range from 1m x 1m up to 2.5m x 2.5m and are perfect for instant screening.

We also stock a range of topiary, from balls to boats, spirals to spaceships we stock and custom make topiary to any size and design.
